Reporting Breaches of the Code of Conduct

Nokian Tyres is committed to giving truthful information and aiming at a comprehensive and timely description of current events in its internal and external communications. The rules set for publicly listed companies are followed in all communications. Communication includes open reporting of any and all material issues related to breaches of Nokian Tyres’ Code of Conduct. Generally, these issues are reported in the annual CR reports. Depending on the materiality and public interest, these issues could be reported in annual or interim reports of Nokian Tyres, or in separate publications. In publishing this information, the materiality of the issue is considered and the rules set for publicly listed companies and legislation regarding privacy are followed at all times. Juridical reasons or reasons related to the confidentiality of ongoing investigations could cause for postponing information, whereby the information would be published when possible.

Note: Reportable issues include any and all direct violations of the Code of Conduct of Nokian Tyres, including, but not limited to, breaches related to Compliance, Crime, Corporate Ethics, Financial, Communication, Product Quality, Human Rights, Environment, Occupational Safety & Health and Personnel. If no breaches are reported, it means there are no reportable breaches at the time.

Reportable Breaches in 2017: 

  • The total VOC emission limit as set in the licence conditions of the Nokian Tyres factory, based on the EU VOC Directive and local legislation, was exceeded (Environmental)
  • The limits set for wastewater in licence conditions of the Vsevolozhsk factory were exceeded in January-May 2018. A fine of approximately EUR 56,000 was issued. Since June, improvements have helped to meet the targets (Environmental).

Reportable Breaches in 2016: 

  • The total VOC emission limit as set in the licence conditions of the Nokian Tyres factory, based on the EU VOC Directive and local legislation, was exceeded (Environmental)
  • Improvement needs for the transparency of practices related to the testing of tyres in magazines and providing tyres for these were noted internally and improvements were made. The issue was communicated externally and improvement suggestions were also made for the industry. (Communication)
