Nokian Tyres involved in the Traffic Safety 2025 research programme

Traffic Safety 2025 is a safety project being carried out by the Finnish Transport Agency, the Technical Research Centre of Finland (VTT) and Nokian Tyres. The aim of the Traffic Safety 2025 research programme is to increase the level of expertise and outlook of the traffic safety sector in Finland, and to support decision-making to enable national traffic safety objectives to be fulfilled. The project is jointly funded and run by VTT. The project will run until the end of 2016. One of the aims of the research programme is to ensure that there are no more than 100 traffic-related deaths in 2025.

Nokian Tyres has been involved in the Traffic Safety 2025 project since it began. The project's themes have included research on the effectiveness of winter speed limits, tyre deficiencies in fatal accidents and changes in the condition of winter tyres. This research has attempted to generate knowledge about the effect of different types of tyres on traffic safety, thereby promoting traffic safety in Finland and in other markets where winter tyres are sold. The project's results have been presented and will be presented in Nordic forums related to traffic safety, meaning that the effects on traffic safety will stretch beyond Finland's borders.

Nokian Tyres intends to continue being involved in research projects and to participate in improving traffic safety.
