More tire options for bus fleets – Nokian Tyres releases new all-weather, all-position coach tire for main road use

In order to serve bus fleets with a more comprehensive tire selection, Nokian Tyres has released an all-season coach tire suitable for every axle position in main road use – steering axle, drive axle as well as bogie axles. The new Nokian Tyres Hakka Truck Coach has all the hallmarks of the Nokian Tyres Hakka Truck tire family: safe grip, smooth and silent drive as well as low total cost of ownership.

As a forerunner in special tires, the bus tire offering by Nokian Tyres has been focusing mainly on optimized winter properties and different models for each axle position. Recently there has been a clear aspiration towards even broader tire selection to fulfill the needs of different customers.

“Comprehensive offering is a part of our good service”, says Teppo Siltanen, Product Manager at Nokian Tyres. “In Central Europe there is a demand among bus fleets for a coach tire suitable for every axle position, so we made one, Nokian Tyres Hakka Truck Coach – and it’s a very good one, too.”

Safety, comfort and economy

The new long-haul bus tire has been designed with three clear goals in mind: safety, comfortability and economy.

“Climate change increases the extreme weather conditions and brings a lot of uncertainty for predicting the weather”, Teppo Siltanen reminds. “Nokian Tyres Hakka Truck Coach tire has advanced siping that enables safe and confident grip in dry, wet or even in snowy roads.”

Another important factor is the low tire noise.

“The passengers are relaxed after the journey when the tire noise is low and the ride is smooth”, Siltanen says. “But it is also an essential part of the driver’s job ergonomics – not to mention the stricter legislation governing tire noise.”

For bus fleets, the economical tire management is also vital. Nokian Tyres Hakka Truck Coach has several features that help lowering the tire costs.

“The entire Nokian Tyres Hakka Truck tire range features a very even wear pattern that makes sure the tire properties remain good throughout the tire service life”, Teppo Siltanen says. “Also, the wearing is very slow, and the special Rock Resistor grooves of Nokian Tyres Hakka Truck Steer and Nokian Tyres Hakka Truck Coach reduce the likelihood of premature tire damage by stone trapping.”

Ready for retreading

Retreading is a good way to lower tire costs and reduce carbon footprint. This is why the advanced tread pattern in Nokian Tyres Hakka Truck Coach is also available as Noktop retread, and the sturdy tire carcass is very suitable to be used in a second round.

“Nokian Tyres Noktop Hakka Coach retread has essentially the same properties than the

Nokian Tyres Hakka Truck Coach tire”, Siltanen says. “The controlled Noktop retreading process produces very even and high-quality results, making retreaded tires a safe choice.”

Sizes and availability

The Nokian Tyres Hakka Truck Coach will be available from June 2022 onwards in sizes 295/80R22.5 and 315/80R22.5. The compatible Nokian Tyres Noktop Hakka Coach retread will be available for order at the same time.
