Nokian Tyres invented the world’s first winter tire called “Kelirengas” or “Weather Tire” in 1934. It was specifically designed for trucks to navigate the harsh winters of the North. However, as passenger car traffic began to increase, winter tires were gradually produced for passenger cars, and the name was changed to Hakkapeliitta.
