Transporting wood chips in the Finnish winter is a demanding job for the tires. Strong traction and wear resistance are essential. Marko Ylijoki from Ylijoki Metsäenergia knows this well. His company trusts Nokian Tyres with their vehicles such as chip semi-trailer trucks, harvesters, mobile chippers and wheeled loaders and also uses Noktop retreads in their chip semi-trailer trucks. 

“We have been using Nokian Tyres for several years, especially in winter conditions. We use retreading because it is cost-effective. The good thing about the Noktop retreading is that the retreaded tires have just as good grip as new tires, for example,” says Marko Ylijoki. 

Ylijoki Metsäenergia’s vehicles have to drive on both forest roads and highways, which require different features from tires. In winter, forest roads require excellent traction. On highways, wear resistance is a priority.
