Although the new label makes it easier to compare tire models, you should also support your decision by consulting the following, for example tire retail experts or independent magazine test articles.
The wet grip rating for a tyre does not indicate how suitable the tyre is for the real winter weather. Instead, it may be misleading and endanger traffic safety. In demanding and varying winter conditions, the most important safety characteristics for tyres are ice grip and snow grip.

Strong grip and balanced driving feel

Van tires are specialty products designed for demanding and versatile use. They need to be sturdy enough to handle heavy loads and varying road conditions safely and reliably. The Alpine Sense Grip concept is designed for challenging winter weather and offers a predictable and balanced driving feel. The concept combines the tire's tread design, rubber compound and structure to offer controlled handling with heavy loads and in challenging weather conditions.

Durable in a wide temperature range

Strong aramid fibers reinforce the sidewalls, providing added durability and protection for demanding driving situations. The rubber compound is optimized for heavy use and designed to perform across a wide temperature range.

Safety for varying winter conditions

The Alpine Sense Grip concept combines the tire's tread design, rubber compound and structure. The winter-optimized tread pattern with tailored siping and multiple edges is designed to provide grip and safety for varying winter conditions and support balanced handling. The Alpine Grip tread compound is designed to perform in a wide temperature range and support snow and wet grip with wear resistance. The strong tire structure combined with Aramid Sidewall technology provides durability and supports wear life.

Grip with driving comfort

Grip for snowy roads. Placed between the tread blocks to support balanced grip on ice and snow, the Snow Claws are designed to assist braking and accelerating. The slush and water channels in the middle of the tread are designed to improve slushplaning and aquaplaning resistance by helping move water and slush away from the tire. Driving comfort is a key element. The tread pattern, computer-optimized tread blocks and structure of the Nokian Tyres Snowproof C are designed for driving comfort and pleasant sound levels.

Driving safety indicator

Nokian Tyres Snowproof C features the Driving Safety Indicator (DSI), which helps the driver assess when to replace the tires. The wear-down indicator shows the remaining tread depth in millimeters. The numbers fade away as the tire wears down. For safe winter driving, the recommended groove depth is between 4 and 5 millimetres, subject to local legal requirements. The snowflake symbol remains visible until the groove depth is four millimetres. Once the snowflake symbol wears off, the driver should consider replacing the tires to support safe driving.
