While the compound is designed to tackle the demands of varying winter temperatures, the updated, arrow-like tread pattern effectively removes snow and slush from between the tire and the road.

 

STABILITY AND CONTROL

Melted snow or frozen slush can make driving feel very unstable when changing lanes or making fast steering actions. Nokian Tyres Snowproof 1 offers excellent braking grip with added slush control and improved driving feel. The tread pattern is optimized for balanced road contact as well as a quick and predictable steering response. The multifaceted Snow Claws between the tread blocks and in the shoulder areas of the tire provide balanced grip on ice and snow, while the Brake Boosters on the tread blocks do their part to improve the excellent braking grip.

The concept consists of tread pattern, siping and rubber compound working together supporting safe and comfortable driving. To cover all the wintry weather conditions, the Alpine Grip rubber compound is designed to tackle the demanding and cold winter conditions, while offering excellent performance in milder weather across a wide temperature range.

STABILITY AND GRIP

The Brake Boosters on the tread blocks do their part to improve the acceleration and braking grip. A strong, unified rib that offers excellent stability and steering response dominates the tire’s center region. The heavily siped tread blocks that connect to this sturdy rib improve braking and acceleration grip. The multifaceted Snow Claws between the tread blocks and in the shoulder areas provide balanced grip on ice and snow.

DRIVING SAFETY INDICATOR

Nokian Tyres Snowproof 2 features a Driving Safety Indicator (DSI), which helps you to know when you should change your tires. The weardown indicator shows the remaining tread depth in millimeters. The numbers fade away as the tire wears down. For safe winter driving, the required groove depth is between 4 and 5 millimetres. The snowflake symbol remains visible until the groove depth is four millimetres. Once the snowflake has worn out, purchasing new winter tires to ensure sufficient safety is recommended.
