Nokian Tyres plc Press Release September 8, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. EEST
Nokian Tyres introduces the new Nokian Tyres Powerproof E, a premium summer tire developed for the needs of modern drivers in Central and Southern Europe. The tire's key achievement is its A-class rating in all three EU tire label categories: rolling resistance, wet grip and external rolling noise, across the entire product range.
The ratings reflect a development approach that balances energy efficiency, wet-weather safety and driving comfort in a single product, responding to growing demand for products that support efficiency, safety and comfort without compromises.
“Whether the priority is maximizing range and efficiency or achieving confidence and comfort in wet conditions, drivers should not have to compromise on safety. The new Nokian Tyres Powerproof E is designed to deliver outstanding performance in the areas that matter most to drivers,” says Tommi Alhola, Senior Vice President, Passenger Car Tyres, Central Europe at Nokian Tyres.
“Achieving A-class ratings in all three EU tire label categories across the entire range is a significant result. These characteristics are all important to today's drivers yet improving one can often affect another. Nokian Tyres Powerproof E was developed to deliver balanced performance across all three areas,” says Samu Lepistö, Development Manager at Nokian Tyres.
The foundation of the tire's performance is Motion Control Technology, which integrates tread design, compound technology and tire construction to support energy efficiency, wet grip and structural stability. Depending on tire size, recycled and renewable materials account for 40.9% to 42.8% of the tire's total material content including rice husk ash (RHA), recycled carbon black and recycled steel.
The tire is manufactured in Nokian Tyres’ Romania factory. The factory in Oradea, Romania, opened in 2024 as the world's first full-scale zero-CO2-emissions tire factory and has since continued to operate with zero direct (Scope 1) CO2 emissions, powered by 100% renewable energy (Scope 2), as verified annually by an external partner. It is located strategically close to Nokian Tyres Central and Southern European customers.
Designed for passenger cars, SUVs and crossover vehicles, including electric, hybrid and combustion-engine models, The Nokian Tyres Powerproof E will be available in a selection of sizes from 16 to 20 inches for the 2027 summer season in the Central and Southern European market.
