THE NOKIAN HAKKAPELIITTA 2 COMBINES THE GRIP PROPERTIES OF FRICTION AND STUDDED TYRES
The Nokian Hakkapeliitta 2 is the first passenger car tyre to combine the most important safety properties of friction tyres and studded tyres. The new Nokian Hakkapeliitta 2 includes the grip properties of both studded tyres and friction tyres. It is the safest studded tyre on the market.
The grip properties of friction tyres are based on an efficient friction rubber compound and a high amount of sipes. The Nokian Hakkapeliitta 2 includes these properties and also applies a brand new stud technology.
Grip tests on ice show that the braking distance of the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 2 is approximately 10% shorter than that of its predecessor and, with ABS brakes, the distances can be up to 15% shorter.
Combining studding and the softer friction rubber compound with a lot of sipes has been the biggest development challenge. The Nokian Hakkapeliitta 2 includes a record-setting 1700 sipes, which is almost twice as many as in the previous studded tyre model. Moreover, the high amount of sipes increases grip on snow and the new wide-bodied studs with elastic cushions stay in place and make less noise.
The Nokian Hakkapeliitta 2 is not only designed for northern conditions, but is also manufactured and tested in the Nordic countries. Like all new Nokian Tyres, the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 2 also includes the DSI wear indicator developed by Nokian Tyres, which enables drivers to keep track of the wearing of the tyres. The new tyre is available in the 17 most popular tyre sizes.
