Decent for summer use, bad for cold weather

DWB • 2 years ago

Ive used them now for half a year throughout the summer season with minimal amount driving on my 01 Suburban, I chose these as Ive always prefered Nokian tires on my smaller vehicles, theyre decent for summer weather however they wear down quite quick, no issues in the rain but once it hit 0 degrees celsius there where no longer any grip. They are advertised "Officially approved for winter use" but lost all traction once temperatures dropped down to 0 c and did not regain proper traction untill about 7 degrees celsius, going 80km/h in a big SUV was not a fun way to learn that, tried to hit a snow patch but the tires would only spin without using 4x4 mode. Can not advice to use in cold weather, absolutely not for winter use!

Tyre sizes

LT225/75 R 16 115/112S

max load 1215 kg, up to 180 km/h

Remember

  • When selecting a tyre, always choose one that matches your usage in the best possible way. In addition to the three characteristics, there are a number of other factors related to safety, performance, and the environment that tyre developers and testers take into account.
  • Although the new label makes it easier to compare tyre models, you should also support your decision by consulting the following, for example tyre retail experts or independent magazine test articles.
  • The wet grip rating for a tyre does not indicate how suitable the tyre is for the real winter weather. Instead, it may be misleading and endanger traffic safety. In demanding and varying winter conditions, the most important safety characteristics for tyres are ice grip and snow grip.

Stabilisers

Excellent handling

The stabilisers on the centre rib stiffen the tyre on road contact, allowing it to perform more smoothly and fluently. The driver can sense this in the excellent driving stability and the tyre's quick response to any steering movements.

3D siping

More stability

Increased driving comfort and grip. More durability. The 3D siping strongly stiffens the siped tread blocks. Unnecessary sipe movement stops, which further improves handling.

Cooling ribs

Slower wear, more kilometres

The cooling ribs designed on the shoulder area of the tyre reduce its heat generation. The ribs increase the durability of the tyre that enjoys poor roads and suddenly changing conditions, as lower heat generation means slower tyre wear, more comfortable driving, and more driving kilometres.
