Warranties

Any material or manufacturing defects of the Sensor made by or for Nokian Heavy Tyres Ltd (“Nokian Heavy Tyres”), including defects in the attachment of the Sensor to the tire, are subject to this Limited Warranty for INTUITU Sensor (“Sensor Limited Warranty”). If a material or manufacturing defect is detected in the Sensor by Nokian Heavy Tyres, Nokian Heavy Tyres shall be liable for this defect in accordance with this Sensor Limited Warranty. The liability of the Sensor remains effective for two (2) years from the date of purchase or until the Sensor reaches 8 000 operating hours, whichever is the earliest.

This Sensor Limited Warranty shall not apply in the following cases:

a. incorrect use of Sensor or tires equipped with Sensor or use of the same against the given instructions;
b. use of the tires equipped with Sensor in car racing or other such exceptional conditions;
c. alterations or repairs of the Sensor or tires equipped with Sensor conducted by a party other than Nokian Heavy Tyres or its authorised contractor;
d. damage caused by liquids of any kind injected to the tire, such as water, salt water, foams or other leak-prevention solution;
e. damage caused by or to chains or other accessories, such as tubes;
f. damage caused by incorrect or incomplete information or instructions given to the customer and not confirmed or approved by Nokian Heavy Tyres; or
g. damage caused by a party other than Nokian Heavy Tyres or its authorized contractor, such as damage caused by transport or mounting;
h. other issues comparable to those mentioned in paragraphs a)–g) that are beyond Nokian Heavy Tyres’ scope of influence.

Notwithstanding the aforesaid regarding the validity of Nokian Heavy Tyres’ liability, this Sensor Limited Warranty applies only as long as the groove depth of the tire equipped with a defective Sensor fulfils the statutory requirements of the country of sale.

In order for Nokian Heavy Tyres’ liability to apply, the customer must notify Nokian Heavy Tyres or its authorised dealer of the defect immediately and not later than within two (2) months from detecting the defect or from the moment when the defect should have been detected.

The customer must immediately deliver the tire equipped with Sensor to Nokian Heavy Tyres or its authorised dealer. Nokian Heavy Tyres shall examine the Sensor. If a Sensor is found to be defective, Nokian Heavy Tyres shall at its choice either replace the defective Sensor with a similar Sensor that is free from defects or refund the customer the price paid for the Sensor in full. The price paid for the Sensor shall be calculated by deducting the list price of a tire not equipped with a Sensor from the price paid by the customer for the tire equipped with a Sensor. A Sensor that is found to be defective shall not be returned to the customer.

Nokian Heavy Tyres shall pay reasonable and substantiated costs arising from the delivery of the tire to Nokian Heavy Tyres´ authorised dealer, if Nokian Heavy Tyres finds out that the Sensor is defective as outlined in this Sensor Limited Warranty. If the Sensor is found to be free from defects, Nokian Heavy Tyres shall charge the transport costs from the customer. Nokian Heavy Tyres shall not be liable for any mounting or balancing costs of tires, unless otherwise required by local mandatory law.

Nokian Heavy Tyres shall not be liable for any damage, and this Sensor Limited Warranty shall not apply, in cases of force majeure or other issues beyond Nokian Heavy Tyres’ scope of influence.

Nokian Heavy Tyres’ liability shall be limited to the aforesaid and shall only be valid as stipulated in this Sensor Limited Warranty. Nokian Heavy Tyres shall not under any circumstances be held liable for any indirect or incidental damage, loss of business income or other profit or any other economic damage, or for any damage caused by the inability to use the Sensor or the tire equipped with Sensor.

This Sensor Limited Warranty does not cover the tire equipped with Sensor, other equipment enclosures, accessories or mobile applications used in conjunction with the Sensor. Raw material or manufacturing defects of tires equipped with Sensor are subject to a separate limited warranty provided by Nokian Heavy Tyres.

Tire Warranty Extension of Registered Users of INTUITU Mobile Application does not apply to this Sensor Limited Warranty.

What is stated under this Sensor Limited Warranty applies equally to the sale of tires equipped with Sensor by any other company belonging to the same group of companies with Nokian Heavy Tyres.

This Sensor Limited Warranty is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Finland. This Sensor Limited Warranty shall not limit the customer’s rights under the local mandatory law.

Any raw material and manufacturing defects of products made by or for Nokian Heavy Tyres Ltd (“Products”) are subject to Nokian Heavy Tyres’ Limited Warranty. 

Customers that have registered to INTUITU mobile application (“Application”) are entitled to a one-year (1) extension to the warranty provided by Nokian Heavy Tyres’ Limited Warranty, as provided herein (“Warranty Extension”). 

This Warranty Extension is valid only for Tires that are purchased from Nokian Heavy Tyres´ authorised reseller* located in the eligible countries listed below. 

This Warranty Extension does not apply to INTUITU Sensor Limited Warranty. This Warranty Extension is not available for and does not apply to truck, bus or passenger car tires. 

Pursuant to this Warranty extension, the liability provided by Nokian Heavy Tyres’ Limited Warranty remains effective for four (4) years from the date of purchase of the Product or for six (6) years from the manufacture of the Product, whichever is the earliest. 

The Warranty Extension is valid under the following conditions:  
- the customer has successfully registered to INTUITU mobile application and has registered their Product (tires) in the Application within one (1) month from purchase of the tires; and  
- the customer maintains up-to-date information regarding users, machine and tire position in the Application or the customer is able to demonstrate that he has made reasonable efforts to maintain the data in the Application with the help of INTUITU support ([email protected]). 

In order for the Warranty Extension to be valid, the customer must present a receipt of the tire purchase or other reliable proof of purchase. 

This Warranty Extension shall transfer to a new owner of Tires provided that the change of ownership is notified to Nokian Heavy Tyres in the Application or via [email protected] and the new owner registers to the INTUITU application within one (1) month of transfer of the ownership. 

As far as not otherwise stated in this Warranty Extension, the terms of Limited Warranty of Nokian Heavy Tyres apply in all respect to the Tires. 

This Warranty Extension is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Finland. This warranty extension shall not limit the customer’s rights under the local mandatory law. 

* Authorised reseller is a reseller that has entered into a contractual relationship with a Nokian Tyres group company to sell Nokian Heavy Tyres´ products.

If a raw material or manufacturing defect is detected in the Product in the Nokian Heavy Tyres´ inspection, Nokian Heavy Tyres shall be liable for this defect in accordance with these terms of liability.

These terms of liability shall not apply to sensors manufactured by or for Nokian Heavy Tyres. These terms of liability shall not apply in the following cases:

a) normal wear and tear;
b) incorrect use or use against the given instructions;
c) use in car racing or other such exceptional conditions;
d) incorrect mounting on rim by a party other than Nokian Heavy Tyres or its authorized contractor;
e) incorrect storage of the Product by a party other than Nokian Heavy Tyres or its authorized contractor;
f) incorrect studding implemented by a party other than Nokian Heavy Tyres or its authorised contractor;
g) alterations or repairs of the Product conducted by a party other than Nokian Heavy Tyres or its authorised contractor;
h) damage caused by other party than Nokian Heavy Tyres or its authorized contractor, such as damage caused by transport or mounting;
i) damage caused by chains or other accessories;
j) incorrect or incomplete information or instructions given to the customer and not confirmed or approved by Nokian Heavy Tyres; or
k) other issues comparable to those mentioned in paragraphs a)–j) that are beyond Nokian Heavy Tyres’ scope of influence.

Notwithstanding the aforesaid regarding the validity of Nokian Heavy Tyres’ liability, these terms of liability apply only as long as the defective Product’s groove depth fulfils the statutory requirements of the country of sale.

In order for Nokian Heavy Tyres’ liability to apply, the customer must notify Nokian Heavy Tyres or its authorised dealer of the defect immediately and not later than within two (2) months from detecting the defect or from the moment when the defect should have been detected. The customer must immediately return the Product it considers to be defective to Nokian Heavy Tyres or to its authorised tire dealer. Nokian Heavy Tyres shall examine the Product. The Product that is found to be defective shall not be returned to the customer. Nokian Heavy Tyres reserves the right to use any data regarding the use of the Product generated by Nokian Tyres´ digital services, with which the customer has registered, in the warranty claim processing.

Defective Product shall be replaced with a similar Product that is free from defects. The customer shall, however, compensate to Nokian Heavy Tyres the difference between the price of the new Product and the unrealized benefit from the use of the returned Product (realizable had the returned Product not been defective). The price of the new Product delivered to the customer shall be the price valid at the moment, when the defective Product shall be replaced to a similar new Product based on these terms of liability. The unrealized benefit shall be calculated on the basis of the remaining groove depth and/or utilization time of the Product. When calculating the unrealized benefit of the defective Product, the price of the defective Product shall be considered to be the price evaluated by Nokian Heavy Tyres at the moment of return of the defective Product and according to the market price of the Product of the same model, size, and type in the country in which the Product in question was sold.

To the raw material or manufacturing defects of integrated products, for instance studs, the terms of liability of the manufacturers of these products shall be applied.

Nokian Heavy Tyres shall not be liable for any damage, and these terms of liability shall not apply, in cases of force majeure or other issues beyond Nokian Heavy Tyres’ scope of influence.

Nokian Heavy Tyres’ liability shall be limited to the aforesaid, and shall only be valid as stipulated in these terms of liability. Nokian Heavy Tyres shall not under any circumstances be held liable for any indirect or incidental damage, loss of business income or other profit or any other economic damage, or for any damage caused by the inability to use the Product.

What is stated under this Limited Warranty applies equally to the sale of Products by any other company belonging to the same group of companies with Nokian Heavy Tyres.
