New Nokian Noktop 86 traction tread – reliability for demanding off-road conditions

The new Nokian Noktop 86 traction tread from Nokian Tyres introduces never before seen reliability for demanding earthmoving applications. Due to the special rubber compound developed by Nokian Tyres, the new Nokian Noktop 86 traction tread has excellent puncture and cut protection under demanding conditions in mines and gravel pits, where quarried rock presents an ever-challenging working environment.

“The world of mining, for example, places heavy demands on tyres, since the passageways are problematic in themselves. You may run into water and larger rocks along the way, and avoiding obstacles is not always an option in the narrow tunnels. The Nokian Noktop 86 traction tread is especially designed for these challenging work locations. Nokian Heavy Tyres is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of special tyres, and it provides Nokian Tyres with expertise and understanding concerning the requirements of mining conditions. This expertise has been utilised in the design of this tread,” says Teppo Siltanen, Product Development Manager for Nokian Truck Tyres.

The new Nokian Noktop 86 traction tread is designed for short transfer distances, and especially for off-road use in special vehicles. The large-block tread pattern and wide grooves ensure good cleaning and grip properties. The Nokian Noktop 86 has been designed for casings of the sizes 315/80R22.5 and 13R22.5, and it will be available from the beginning of 2013.

The new tread also features the Driving Safety Indicator (DSI), developed and patented by Nokian Tyres, that makes it easier to follow the wear of the tyre. The numbers on the centre surface of the tyre indicate how much of the main groove depth remains on the tread. The numbers wear out together with the tyre, making it easy to monitor the actual condition of the tyre.
