PRESS RELEASE 18th September 2000

NOKIAN TYRES' TYRE CHAIN UNDER VIANOR NAME

Nokian Tyres, will unite and unify its' tyre chain operations, which are the largest in the Nordic countries, under a common name and visual identity. The new name of Nokian Tyres' tyre chain will be Vianor. The name is derived from Latin and describes "Northern road", which reflects the basic principle of Nokian Tyres' tyre supply operations - expertise in Northern conditions.

Vianor is the current name of Nokian Tyres' Norwegian retail chain and the name will now be introduced in Finland, Sweden and Estonia. In Finland, the Isko and Mestarit groups' outlets will be renamed Vianor. In Sweden, Vianor will replace the names of the private chains. The visual outlook of the retail outlets will be gradually updated with Finland and Norway leading the way.

The sales volume of Nokian Tyres' tyre chain is over one million passenger car and delivery van tyres. Vianor has the largest tyre supply chain in the Nordic countries and will thus gain synergy benefits particularly in purchasing, marketing and administration.
- A large tyre chain is also advantageous for consumers, as sizeable purchases yield cost benefits and enable us to maintain an extensive product range. An extensive outlet network also means good availability, says Mr. Juhani Kyrklund, Vice President, Tyre Chain.

The Vianor chain comprises a total of 150 outlets in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Estonia and Latvia. In 1999, Nokian Tyres' tyre chain employed 1,078 people and the net sales from tyre chain stood at 100.6 million euros. Vianor's target for the year 2000 is to increase net sales to 200 million euros.

Vianor's new colours are black, steel grey and orange as a signal colour. The new visual outlook is designed by the Lowe Lintas & Partners advertising agency.
