Nokian winter tyre is test winner with the judgement
„very recommendable“ in the winter tyre test 2011
of German car magazine „sport auto“

Best result on snow with 99 out of 100 points
Best result in the dry with 68 out of 70 points
Nokian is also test winner in the show „auto mobil“ of German TV station “VOX”

New Nokian WR D3 winter tyre is the test winner with the judgement “very recommendable” in the winter tyre test 2011 of the German car magazine “sport auto”. The best result of all tested tyres was achieved by the Finn on snow with a score of 99 out of 100 possible points. It reached again the best result in the dry with a score of 68 out of 70 possible points. „Finnish Nokian clearly is ahead of the others as regards to winter properties. In the dry you can rely on it, too,” is the rating of “sport auto”, the magazine for sporty cars.

The Nokian winter tyre is again test winner in the TV show “auto mobil” of the German TV station “VOX”.

„sport auto“ praises: „In winter conditions, Nokian WR D3, however, objectively climbs to the top. There was no match for the excellent grip properties of the Finn. It impressively brakes on snow and also provides the most gripping traction. In the test discipline handling it offers the best lateral grip what eventually has a lasting effect on the lap time.

Thus, the Nokian comes off as the insider tip from this comparison. One which compared to the major players in fact shies a bit away from the wet. But one which nearly passes for a bargain regarding its price.“
Test winner Nokian WR D3 is with 169 Euros the most economically priced tyre, the most expensive costs 57 Euros more. Only premium winter tyres were tested. In the dimension 225/45-17, they are suitable for VW Golf and similar cars as well as for middle class limousines.

“VOX auto mobil” test winner “Nokian wins the rating on snow confidently“, is the best in braking and traction and „brilliantly masters the curved section“.

Nokian WR D3 winter tyre was also assessed „very recommendable“ in the winter tyre tests 2011 of the German car magazines „auto motor und sport“ and „Auto Zeitung“. Nokian Tyres’ extraordinary success with the victory in the summer tyre test 2011 of „auto motor und sport“, the victories in „sport auto“ winter tyre test 2011 and „VOX auto mobil” winter tyre test and the excellent winter tyre test results with „auto motor und sport“ und „Auto Zeitung“ prove the high level of expertise of the world’s leading winter tyre manufacturer.

Nokian WR D3 and Nokian WR A3 for larger and more powerful vehicles are available in a wide range of sizes from 13 to 20 inches, speed ratings ranging from T to W (190 – 270 km/h). For tyre change, Nokian tyres are obtainable on good terms at local tyre dealers, as complete winter wheels with rims, too.

Nokian Tyres – an expert in winter conditions

Nokian Tyres is the only tyre manufacturer in the world that focuses on products and services that facilitate safe transportation in Nordic conditions. The company's innovative passenger car, van and heavy-duty machinery tyres are mainly marketed in areas that have snow, forest and changing seasons that make driving conditions demanding. Nokian Tyres also offers tyres especially tailored for the milder European climate.
For over 75 years, the company has been developing, testing and patenting solutions that promote driving safety. The world's first winter tyre was created to tackle the freezing temperatures and winds in 1934. Since then, top-range products refined with northern know-how have been introduced on a regular basis.
The world’s northernmost tyre manufacturer tests its products under demanding and extreme conditions at its own test facilities in Ivalo, 300 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle. At the beginning of the 1990s Nokian Tyres became the first company to develop unique slush planing tests for winter tyres. In 2002, Nokian Tyres introduced the Nokian WR, which was the first winter tyre designed for fast driving (M + S) in the world. This was followed in 2007 by the Nokian WR G2 that has been praised in test reports for its exemplary grip and special ability to prevent slush planing. Its success story will be continued with the new Nokian WR D3 and A3.
Respect for the environment is one of the fundamental values of Nokian Tyres. The company has systematically worked towards minimising environmental hazards. Nokian Tyres was the first tyre manufacturer to switch over to using only purified, low-aromatic oils in its production. Raw material and material choices are aimed at avoiding unnecessary burdens on the environment.
Nokian Tyres’ net sales for 2010 totalled approximately EUR 1,058 million, and it had 3,500 employees. The company owns the Vianor tyre chain that comprises 800 stores in 20 countries. Nokian Tyres Plc's shares are quoted on the Helsinki Exchanges' NASDAQ OMX.
