SERIOUS ACCIDENT AT THE NURMIJÄRVI RETREADING PLANT IN FINLAND

August 4, 2005 a serious accident occurred at Nokian Tyres’ retreading plant in Nurmijärvi and one employee died. The accident was due to the explosion during the retreading process when vulcanising the tyre. Investigations are going on in order to find out what caused the explosion.

The Nurmijärvi plant is now closed for time being. Nokian Tyres will make extra inspections at all of its retreading plants due to the accident.

Nokian Tyres expresses its condolences to the family of the deceased employee and takes all possible actions to support them and the co-workers at the Nurmijärvi plant.
