Dangerous slush planing

Strong slush planing protection and lower fuel consumption with the green winter tyres Nokian WR G2 and Nokian WR G2 SUV

Comprehensive range of sizes

Slush planing is the most dangerous driving situation for car drivers in the winter. Safe driving on slush is most important for them, 95 per cent of the car drivers wish for it, far more than for safety on snow with 89 per cent, ice with 81 percent, in the rain with 71 per cent or in the dry with 59 per cent, a representative study demonstrates according to the leading winter tyre manufacturer Nokian Tyres.

The green premium winter tyre Nokian WR G2 is optimized for especially strong slush planing protection, the experts from Finland communicate. Furthermore the slush specialist significantly saves fuel, too due to its lower rolling resistance. Slush planing is very dangerous because the tyre loses contact with the road and you can not steer the car anymore. On slush the risk of fatal accidents is 4.9 times higher than on dry roads, a study of Tampere University of Technology proves.

For 15 years Nokian Tyres as the pioneer in this discipline has carried out slush planing tests and owns a unique proving ground for slush planing tests longitudinal as well as lateral. Therefore it improves the slush planing protection of its tyres more and more.

“Additionally the car driver can reduce his fuel consumption by half a litre of fuel per 100 kilometres with a low rolling resistance environmentally friendly tyre like Nokian WR G2,” advises Teppo Huovila, Vice President R & D. “This is 300 Euros less over a normal driving distance of 40,000 kilometres.” As additional ecological benefit all compounds of Nokian WR G2 are produced without high-aromatic oils. Nokian Tyres was the world’s first tyre manufacturer to go over to using only purified, low aromatic oils throughout its production.

Nokian WR G2 is “recommendable” according to the test judgements of the German automobile association ADAC and the German car magazines “auto motor und sport”, “Auto” and “sport auto”. “Good” on snow and “quite good on ice, too” – these are the ratings from ADAC, the German consumer organisation Stiftung Warentest and leading German car magazines. Its “relatively low wear” and its low rolling resistance are especially praised, therefore it has a high mileage. The eco high-performance winter tyre also gets mark “good” in the dry.

The range of the Nokian WR G2 is the largest winter tyre programme in the trade with 67 sizes from 14 inches of the speed index T to 20 inches W-tyres with 270 km/h maximum speed. Nearly every car model can be equipped with it. Six run-flat versions are available, too.

For SUVs there is a special version: the Nokian WR G2 SUV, also green slush specialist. This environmentally friendly winter tyre drives safely in all weather, on wet, dry, slushy, icy road, the Finns characterise its strengths. It has a ten per cent lower rolling resistance in comparison to most premium competitors, measurements of the manufacturer show. 28 dimensions from 15 to 22 inches are available.
