How do the new tyre regulations affect the environmental friendliness of studded winter tyres?

Regulations applying to studded tyres took effect in summer 2013 and they serve to further boost traffic safety and environmental friendliness. New studded tyres are estimated to cause up to 25 percent less road wear than previous models. At the same time, the pass-by noise of tyres has decreased.
