Nokian summer tyre range successful in tests in the
Nordic countries, Central Europe and Russia

Nokian summer tyres have been successful this spring in several car magazine comparison tests all over Europe. In the largest Central European summer tyre test, conducted by the German automobile club ADAC and Stiftung Warentest, the Nokian V received the best grade ”gut”, together with seven competitors. Special attention was paid to the Nokian V’s versatile safety properties and the shortest braking distance on wet roads among all the tested tyres. The braking distance was 22 metres shorter (from the speed of 100 km/h) than that of the tyre that received the poorest grade.

ADAC performed a comprehensive test on a total of sixteen 195/65 R15 summer tyres. The German ADAC is the world’s second largest motor club and Stiftung Warentest is an independent German consumer organisation and foundation involved in investigating and comparing goods and services.

The Nokian V was clearly the best tyre in a summer tyre test run by German magazine Auto, Motor und Sport. One of the largest in Germany, the car magazine praised the Nokian V’s excellent driving response on both wet and dry roads, the low tyre noise and the very low rolling resistance. Safe and environmentally friendly, the Nokian V was in a class of its own, particularly in handling and braking tests on wet. Auto, Motor und Sport magazine tested a total of eleven 225/45 R17 summer tyres.

The success in the test was also complemented by the grade “highly recommended” for the Nokian Z G2 in a test by German Auto Zeitung magazine.

New Nokian Hakka Green - Excellent handling properties

The new Nokian Hakka Green summer tyre won a recent comparison test by Finnish magazine Tuulilasi (4/2011). The most recent addition to the Hakka summer tyre range was especially praised for its excellent handling properties on dry and wet.

“The best properties of the tyre include balanced and unchanging properties, both on wet and dry surfaces,” stated Tuulilasi. When discussing the tyre’s properties on wet roads Tuulilasi noted that the Nokian tyre is neutral and easy to drive in any situation. Tuulilasi magazine tested a total of eight 205/55 R16 summer tyres.

The Nokian Hakka V was rated the second best in a test run by Finnish car magazine Tekniikan Maailma (6/2011). According to Tekniikan Maailma, the Nokian Hakka V’s grip is excellent, and its handling properties are a suitable combination of exact steering and ease of control. “The Nokian tyre promptly reacts to steering movements, and it is also stable when the driver has to make quick adjustments. In addition, the tyre is fairly silent. Nokian is one of the best choices you can make when driving in Finland in the summertime,” says Tekniikan Maailma. Tekniikan Maailma magazine tested a total of fifteen 205/55 R16 summer tyres. The tested speed range was V (240 km/h). The Nokian Hakka Green (speed range H = 210 km/h) was the sixth in the same test.

The best tyre in a test by Swedish Auto, Motor & Sport (8/2011) was the Nokian V summer tyre, designed for the Central European markets. According to Auto, Motor & Sport, the Nokian V is a good example of what the modern tyre industry is capable of producing. “Even though the Nokian V’s rolling resistance is lower than its predecessor, its wet grip properties are excellent: for example, the breaking grip on wet road was the best among the tested tyres. The Nokian V offers excellent handling characteristics even during aquaplaning. The behaviour of the tyre is excellent, and its braking distance on wet and dry surface is short. It is a quiet tyre with low rolling resistance,” states Auto, Motor & Sport.

Gold medals from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus

The Nokian Hakka H was ranked as the best tyre in a test by Russia’s largest car magazine, Za Rulem (March 2011). A total of ten 185/60 R14 summer tyres were tested. “The tyre makes it easy for the driver to understand the behaviour and reactions of the vehicle. The tyre’s braking properties on dry and wet roads were the best among the tested tyres. On dry surface, Nokian Hakka H was almost a metre better than its closest competitor, and on wet roads, the difference was 1.3 metres,” says Za Rulem.

In the tyre comparison test, in the magazine’s April edition, the Nokian Hakka V was ranked second best. The tested size was 205/55 R16. “The tyres behave well even at high speeds. Their slipping can be anticipated on wet asphalt, and driving requires almost no corrective movements. The vehicle behaves in a trustworthy and understandable way: there are no surprises. The tyres are economical at all speeds,” analyses Za Rulem.

The chain of gold medals continued in Ukraine: the new Nokian Hakka Green was the best tyre in a comparison test by AutoCentre magazine. “In addition to the Michelin EnergySaver, the novelty tyre Nokian Hakka Green is able to combine low rolling resistance with good excellent grip properties on wet. The Finns have been slightly more successful in this work. The Green’s grip was excellent on a wet slalom track, offering the best lap time. The tyre sometimes slips a little in curves when the speed increases but the grip and steering still remain good,” says AutoCentre.

According to the magazine, positive features of the novelty tyre include its grip properties on wet and dry asphalt and its handling properties on all surfaces. The tested size was 185/60 R14, and the test included nine summer tyres.

The superior winner in a test by the Belorussian AutoBild magazine was the Nokian Hakka V. It was ranked as the best in both wet and dry handling tests, and in braking and aquaplaning tests. The tested size was 205/55 R16 and a total of six tyres were tested.
